SON DOS
Daisy Jopling (Great Britain): Violin, Voice Milagros Piñera Ibaceta (Cuba): Guitar, Voice, Percussion
Milagros and Daisy met in Vienna in a band bringing musicians from latin, funk, jazz and classical music together. They were immediately ignited by each other's expertise in such contrasting, yet appealing styles of music. They shared a passion to develop into new styles and form their own, original sound. Daisy spent much of her childhood in Ireland soaking in the fiddle tunes from the local pubs; and while Mily studied percussion, guitar and singing, she discovered beautiful, unusual Cuban songs, and became inspired to write some of her own.
SON DOS is the musical encounter of Cuba and Ireland, the sound of the Irish fiddle in the streets of Havanna, a Bolero at the riverside of the Themse. SON DOS is also the life in Vienna, with Rumba and English ballads in the air.
Son Dos present contrasting programmes including original compositions as well as arrangements of traditional Cuban and Irish music.
SON DOS have toured Belgium, Norway, Austria, Germany and Mexico, and have released their first CD „Mañana mi Amor with Extraplatte, www.extraplatte.at.
